But somehow, he was good enough to win over the former POTUS Barack Obama. After retiring from Major League Baseball as a professional ballplayer, the Yankees legend wanted to try something new. And he chose golf as his new hobby.

Back in 2016, Jeter played a golf match with the former president, and Brian Greenspun, owner of the Las Vegas Sun newspaper. And apparently, they had placed a bet on the game as well. Over the years, the Baseball Hall of Famer had formed quite a nice relationship with the then-president. and thanks to an excellent relationship between the two, not only did they play a golf match, Jeter and Obama also ended up discussing a quite a few things about each other.
And when talking about the golf game, it did not turn out to be good for the former president as had lost to the former Yankee.

What did the former POTUS say about Derek Jeter?
According to the former president, Derek Jeter had cheated on the game. Apparently, he had lied about how much golf he knew. The then-President said this to ESPN in 2016.

“He (Greenspun) and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek,” Obama said. “It was clearly a setup because when we got to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere. I said, ‘You play golf, Derek?’ And he said, ‘I just started two weeks ago.’”
Jeter had won against the most powerful man in the world in 2014. Jeter was not good at golf, but he was far better than the former president because he won. Also, the ex-president wanted his money back, but Jeter did not comply.

Jeter took to golf as a hobby after retirement
Neither did the former shortstop play golf much, nor did he have time to play. Post-retirement, as he took to golf as a hobby, he also got settled in his personal life.
