

Opening Day is almost here and baseball fans are excited to see their favorite teams compete. Coming off an eventful off-season, most MLB teams have taken their game up a notch with strong rosters. The Houston Astros were last year’s World Series champions, so all eyes will be on them. How will the team play till October rolls around? Never one to be intimidated, the team, it seems, is bringing in the big guns for Opening Day.

The big guns? They are Megan Thee Stallion, Mark Wahlberg, and Cody Johnson. All three celebrities have their own unique connection to the Astros. Megan is a Houston native and a big supporter of the city in all matters. Johnson, a country singer, is a Texas native and has performed at an Astros game before. Wahlberg has a different link to the team though – he is friends with the Astros’ third baseman Alex Bregman!

Big names from Hollywood set to take part in Houston Astros Opening Day
Reporter Julia Morales recently announced that Megan thee Stallion will throw out the first pitch on Opening Day. Mark Wahlberg will make the Play Ball call, while Cody Johnson will sing the national anthem on March 30th. The Astros will play against the White Sox.

Johnson has performed ‘The Star Spangled Banner‘ once before, at game seven of the 2019 World Series, although the Astros lost to the Nationals. Megan Thee Stallion performed at game two of the World Series in 2021 but unfortunately, the Houston team lost that championship as well.

Interestingly, Wahlberg is actually a Boston Red Sox supporter and was present at the 2022 World Series, which the Astros did end up winning. Given the history of these stars with the team, Opening Day is going to be intriguing.

Megan Thee Stallion will also perform during March Madness
The final four March Madness games are taking place in Houston. So of course the rapper wants to show her support and will be performing alongside some other big names in music. She will be joining Lil Nas X, Tim McGraw, and Mickey Guyton for the three-day festival, which will run from March 31 to April 2.

This will be Megan’s first performance after a tumultuous year, where Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper, was found guilty of shooting the rapper at a house party in July 2020. Megan was shot in the foot and had to undergo surgery after the assault.
