It looks like not getting to enter the 700 Home Run Club still pinches Alex Rodriguez. One of the greatest baseball players of all time, A-Rod was never short on talent. Having some impressive titles under his belt, anyone who knows baseball knows Rodriguez is one of the greats. The problem lay with the former Yankee’s lack of trust in himself and his abilities, which led him to use performance-enhancing drugs.

Suspended for the entire 2014 season, Rodriguez only got to play 44 games in the season prior too. His career fizzled out in the end as he retired in 2016; some say MLB forced him to give up his uniform. Whatever the case, the former shortstop reached 696 career homers and stands fifth on the list of most career home runs today. And as he recently hung out with the MLB Home Run King Barry Bonds, A-Rod had an interesting request to make.

Alex Rodriguez wants Barry Bonds to lend him four of his homers

At 762, the former SF Giants slugger Barry Bonds holds the title of home run king. Although three more players are part of the 700-club, the second one, Hank Aaron, only comes close at 715. And Rodriguez, who did not get enough time to go past 696, clearly regrets those last four runs to this day.

The pair were recently spotted at an NBA game, between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, which A-Rod owns partly. When the Warriors’ official Twitter posted a video of the two talking, A-Rod re-shared it with the caption, “Brought Barry to the game to see if he’d lend me four homers.” And this isn’t even the first instance the former baseballer brought up his home run record recently!

Not only that, but back in 2015, A-Rod told Bonds he would be coming for his home run record one day. Who was to know he would retire just a year later? While the ex-Yankee may not have beaten the ex-Giant’s record, the two retired athletes don’t seem to have any bad blood between them. But that isn’t to say people are big fans of the two.

Twitter brutally mocks Bonds and Rodriguez for spending time together

Both Bonds and Rodriguez are counted as among some of the most controversial players in MLB history. Not just because the shared PED usage connects them but because of how each approached baseball. Bonds was reportedly difficult to work with and didn’t have much of a team spirit. Whereas Rodriguez was criticized for leaving the Rangers for the Yankees just because the latter offered a bigger paycheck.

And fans had no hesitation in letting the two know exactly how they felt.

While, of course, there was some praise mixed in with the hate, the general impression of the two isn’t very favorable.
