Born in Omaha, Nebraska, now 36-year-old Darin Ruf made his MLB debut in 2012 with the Philadelphia Phillies. Ruf was with the Phillies until 2016, before he was traded to the Dodgers, who sold his contract to the Samsung Lions of the KBO League. Now, six years after Ruf’s successful stint began with the Samsung Lions, he got designated on assignment and switched alliances with the Beermakers in Milwaukee.
After spending three seasons in South Korea, and leading the RBI chart in 2017, the outfielder and first baseman moved to the Bay Area, and signed a one-year contract worth $1.275 million in 2021, before avoiding arbitration and signing another two-year, $6.25 million contract with the Giants.

After jumping from one team to another, Darin Ruf is finally moving to Milwaukee

Darin Ruf’s second stint with the Giants started after he expressed heavy dissatisfaction with his time in Queens, but after being designated on assignment, he opted out.
Now, Ruf signed a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee will contribute $541,935, which is a proportionate amount based on the $720,000 minimum salary in the major league. The Giants will cover the remaining portion of Ruf’s salary, which amounts to $3 million, along with an additional $250,000 for the buyout of his contract’s 2024 team option.

Throughout his MLB career, Ruf has managed sub-par numbers. In his 1443 at-bats, Ruf has registered 346 hits, with 67 homers and 205 runs batted in at 0.240.
Milwaukee fans were barely happy to see Ruf coming to American Family Field. As a result, this is how they reacted:
