Albert Pujols has joined the Los Angeles Angels to fulfill his 10-year personal services contract. The MLB legend joined up with the team recently and will provide them with experience and critical input. He is assuming a special assistant role and will help the coaching staff, players, and prospects.

Furthermore, Pujols will also help in recruiting top talent from the Dominican Republic. These are all massive factors that will help the Angels in the long run. Franchise cornerstone Mike Trout recently commented on the news, offering his opinion on it.

Notably, when Pujols retired from baseball, no one expected him to make a comeback this soon, even as an assistant. However, if reports are true, then The Machine, who helped the cardinals win their division last season, is going to help the Angels have a good season this year. And the Angels slugger Mike Trout is delighted with this recent development at the clubhouse. The Athletic’s Sam Blum shared Trout’s statement on the news via Twitter.

According to Blum, Trout said, “It’s pretty cool. Obviously having his presence in this locker room for the younger guys and the guys that’ve been up here. Any questions you have, just ask him. He’s been through it all.” The Angels’ star outfielder respects Pujols’ achievements and believes his experience will greatly benefit the younger prospects.

Trout recently reported for Spring Training and having a presence like Pujols around will be great for the team. The MLB legend will help players develop and share his wealth of experience with them. But this does not address the more pressing issues for the Angels.

The Angels have not added enough talent this off-season

The Los Angeles Angels look destined for another year of missing the postseason as the off-season draws to a close. Once again, their franchise star Mike Trout will lead a team that is short on talent. He and Shohei Ohtani are two of the League’s top players but are hindered by a lack of quality teammates.

The Angels have picked up some decent options in Hunter Renfroe and Gio Urshela, but that is not enough. Most sources project that they will miss the postseason once again this year. Furthermore, Ohtani will be a free agent after this season and might leave. Bringing Albert Pujols back in this new role is huge, but it will be overshadowed by the team’s looming issues.
