After facing a close defeat in the first game, the New York Mets bounced back in the second game in style against the LA Dodgers. Jacob deGrom stole the show from the mound. The Mets ace was just sensational in the second game.

When deGrom was not on the Mets’ roster for the entire first half because of the injury, somehow the Mets managed to survive in the 2022 MLB season. And now, with deGrom by their side, the Mets have become a serious threat to any MLB team for the rest of the season.

While talking about deGrom, even the Dodgers slugger Mookie Betts could not stop but praise the Mets’ ace.

Is Jacob deGrom the best pitcher in MLB right now?

Be it sliders, fastballs, or even cutters, Jacob deGrom has everything in his armor. He has started only five games for the Mets this season, and deGrom has already become their biggest asset.

Although Betts hammered a solo homer off of deGrom in the sixth inning, it was not enough for the Dodgers to win the game. deGrom his seven innings of pitches, deGrom allowed just one run on three hits.

Considering his deadly pitches, Betts almost called deGrom a G.O.A.T. 

“He’s pretty much the best. Maybe the best to ever pitch. Most difficult part of facing him? The fastball? The slider? All of it. I mean, all of it,” Betts said.

Being a nice guy, deGrom credited his team for putting up a good defensive show against the Dodgers. “I had good defense behind me tonight,” deGrom (4-1, 1.98 ERA) said. “Thankful for that.”

The world is not ready for deGrom and Scherzer on the same team

Not only deGrom, in the name of Max Scherzer, but the New York Mets also have one of the best pitchers in the last decade playing for them. Only deGrom and Scherzer share five Cy Young Awards between them. It sums up how good pitchers they have been in the game.

Given the postseason games are not that far, the duo of deGrom and Scherzer will be the biggest positive for the Buck Showalter-led team.
