Jennifer Lopez has dated and broken up with her fair share of celebrities and star personalities. Her most recent breakup was with Alex Rodriguez in April last year following a four-year relationship together, and an engagement as well, that the two called off when they split up. But this was not JLo’s most painful breakup.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Jennifer Lopez talked about her relationship with Ben Affleck and her new album, among other things. When talking about the breakup, Lopez said “It was so painful after we broke up. Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, I was, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. And I honestly felt like I was going to die.”

Lopez has credited the intense media coverage as one of the reasons for the breakup, among other things. Notably, way back in the early 2000s, JLo and Affleck, AKA ‘Bennifer’, started dating when tabloids were starting to pick up. As a high-profile couple, this led to them being covered and almost stalked by the media.

According to reports, Affleck and Lopez broke up because they wanted different things at the time. JLo was ready to settle down and have kids, but Affleck was not at that point. The two split up in 2004, to the shock and sadness of many people.
