Houston Astros Dethrones LA Angels From No. 1 Spot in AL West After Registering 10th Consecutive Win

Houston Astros registered their tenth consecutive win this season. With this, the Astros also dethroned the LA Angels from the top spot of the American League West 2022 standings. After the departure of their star player Carlos Correa, the Astros did not have a good start in the season. But the Dusty Baker-led team is back to their best.

Notably, the departure of Carlos Correa hit the Astros to their core. But players like Jose Altuve, Jeremy Pena, and Justin Verlander have risen on the occasions for their team. They have swept three series in a row against the Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers, and the Minnesota Twins.

Especially, the recent series victory over the Minnesota Twins was very special for the Astros. Because their former star Carlos Correa was playing for the opposition team. Earlier during the free agency, when Correa and the Astros could not agree upon a deal, the Puerto Rican shortstop signed a new contract with the Twins.

How long the Houston Astros can stay at the top?

Knowing that the LA Angels are also in fine form, it will be very challenging for the Astros to maintain their position at the top. Because the Angels are just a win away from regaining their top position.

Astros sweep the Minnesota Twins

When the Astros started the series a couple of days ago against the Minnesota Twins, the Dusty Baker-led side knew they will have to face their former teammate in the ballpark. And knowing the ability of Carlos Correa, they were aware he will be their biggest threat.

However, the Astros dominated the Twins in all three games. The Astros scored 21 runs in all three games, while they allowed just three runs to the Twins. Be it the defense or the offense, the Minnesota Twins were clueless against the Astros.
