Houston Astros Superfan With a Chance of Winning $75 Million Goes Off on Philadelphia Phillies Fans Leaving the MLB World Aghast

A Houston Astros fanatic placed a million-dollar bet on the Astros’ chances of winning the World Series this year. If the Astros win, he will receive the largest payout in sports betting history. The Astros are contesting in the World Series and need to win four games to clinch the trophy. However, the Philadelphia Phillies lead the series after the game 3 victory, and the superfan was seemingly angry after the Astros’ latest defeat. 

Beginning the tournament among the prime favorite contenders, the Astros had another solid campaign in the regular season. Their postseason turned out further perfectly as the Astros maintained an unbeaten record. However, the proceedings hit a rocky road after the Astros entered their second consecutive World Series. Losing two out of three games, the Astros were 2-1 down against the Phillies after game 3.

Therefore, a lot was on the wire for a certain loyal Astros supporter. 

Who is this Houston Astros supporter and what has he got to lose?

Jim McIngvale, popularly nicknamed ‘Mattress Mack,’ owns a furniture store known as “Gallery Furniture” in Houston. He is also a popular sports gambler in the region. Previously, he had held promotions where customers paying a certain sum would often get their furniture for free. That is if a specific team goes on to win a championship.

McIngvale has placed $10 million in bets for the Astros to win the World Series. If the Astros win, he will get an estimated $75 million in return. So he was seemingly annoyed after the Phillies defeated the Astros in Tuesday’s game. In video footage, McIngvale got noticed shouting at an opposition fan. 

A baseball follower shared the video clip on his Twitter account, quoting, “Mattress Mack defending the Houston Astros.”  

Someone replied to the incident by writing, “Damn, never seen him air it out like this, he must’ve said something real bad to him. Lol.” 

While another person defended McIngvale by writing, “Lifer Phillies fan here.  If Mack’s this fired up I don’t need to see what happened before the video started to know that those guys he’s yelling at are scumbags. Don’t care who he pulls for, guy’s a legit hero. Steps up when real people need help. Do better Philly.”

A report on the World Series  

The Phillies ran rampant in the third World Series game. Outplaying the Astros in all departments, the Phillies won the game on a 7-0 margin. However, the Astros won the fourth game and drew level in the series. Therefore, the series is now two 2-2 with three more games to follow.
