How did LinkedIn help Stone Garret?

Garret started his minor league career after getting drafted by the Miami Marlins in the eighth round of the 2014 draft. Since then, he spent eight seasons in the minor leagues. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Marlins released him. To his good fortune, just as the Marlins released Stone, he got his real estate license. That is also when he created his LinkedIn profile. After spending a year as a real estate agent, Garret was about to delete his LinkedIn profile. Then, everything changed.

He received a direct message on LinkedIn from an old video coordinator of the Gulf Coast League. It said“Hey, glad to see you doing real estate.” While testing his luck, Stone replied by saying, “Hey, do you know anybody that needs an outfielder? I feel like I can still compete at Double-A or above.” The reply was hopeful, at best. He said, “No, but let me ask around.”

Stone calls Mom and Dad!

After getting called to the Major League, Stone Garret called mom and dad. In an extremely wholesome conversation, Garret started with a harmless prank and asked his mom to look for his insurance. After his mother reached the call, he broke the news to them. He said, “I’m lying. Do you know why I’m calling you? I’m going to San Francisco, mom. I’m going to the big leagues.” Subsequently, we can hear Stone’s mother scream out of happiness.
