How Many Games Are Played in the World Series?

Finally, the season of baseball in the United States has entered into the World Series. Played between two champions of the American and National League, 2023 has two underdogs against each other, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Taxes Rangers. They wiped unceremoniously heavy weights. The Diamondbacks and the Rangers have won one game each of the total played so far. Who will make it out to the finals is difficult to say. The duo has been playing unexpectedly throughout October.

The series has been held around 115 times since it was first played in 1902. The Yankees have the highest number of titles, followed by the Cardinals and the Red Sox. However, between the two existing teams, D-backs are battling for the second title, while Rangers may open an account.

The World Series format has remained largely unchanged for 100 years now. Throughout the years, the winners were declared based on the best-of-seven formats. All Fall Classics don’t go for seven games. Any of the teams having World Series titles had to tread different paths. Some have made it by winning the first four at a stretch, some have to extend innings.

In 2019, the Washington Nationals against the Houston Astros was the last World Series to go the distance. The infamous series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox was the only one where the best of nine formats were adopted. This format could not be sustained for three years. So, who will be crowned the World Series champion?

The best of the seven games is the general rule, but there are some caveats to it. In one scheme of 2-3-2 format, the higher host 1,2,6,7 of the world series, while in the lower case, 3,4 and 5.

The teams with the better record have home-field advantage

The duo teams can be observed on at least four parameters. Starting rotation, offense, bullpen, and defense. Both teams have similar starting positions and defense, but Texas has an advantage in offense while Arizona excels in the bullpen. The display of both has been seen in the first two games, but the one who advances in the rest of the uneven two will determine the winner.

Having a better home record can play an advantage for the team. The Rangers against the D-backs have it.  Against the 90 wins in the regular season, they had six more than Arizona, leaving the former with the upper hand. So how could this advantage play for the Rangers? It will give the prowess to end the game immediately if they have a lead in the ninth innings.’

Are there any possibilities to favor the Rangers? The more games unfold, the better the clarity will occur. But remember, these teams move in unexpected directions. They unexpectedly lost when everyone expected them to win.
