“I Can Be an Alpha..”: Millionaire Alex Rodriguez Makes Stunning Imposter Syndrome Confession

People go through many trials and tribulations while trying to reach the top of their industry or field. This includes Alex Rodriguez, who overcame a lot of roadblocks and difficulties to become an MLB superstar. Most recently, Rodriguez shared how he deals with imposter syndrome and doubting his own worth. 

A-Rod was raised by a single mother who worked two jobs to provide for him and his siblings. But he overcame the difficulties and roadblocks to make it to baseball’s biggest stage. A-Rod recently revealed that he doesn’t lack confidence today, but explained how he deals with imposter syndrome. 

Alex Rodriguez reveals his struggle with imposter syndrome

Imposter syndrome occurs when a person feels that they are not living up to people’s expectations or they doubt their own skills. Most recently, New York Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez opened up on whether he feels that way. A-Rod said that he’s very confident and recounted a story from his childhood. But he then countered it with his experience of interacting with other NBA owners and wondering if he belonged in the room. He shared a snippet of an interview on Instagram.

In the interview, Rodriguez said, “I have a lot of confidence but every day I wake up with two thoughts. Like, how do I diminish my ego today? And how do I enhance my self-awareness? Because at the end of the day, Jay, once my father left, I remember looking at food stamps and I’m like, oh my God. Like, I gotta get to work, and this like I’m a 12-13-year-old boy. I got to help my mother. I’ve always had that confidence that I can be an Alpha and I can be a leader.”

He continued, “But you know you walk into the NBA board meetings, and to your left, you have Steve Ballmer. To your right, you have Mark Cuban. I looked around and go, what the hell am I doing in this room? I hope they don’t kick me out right?”

This is the experience of a legendary baseball player who achieved greatness in business as well. Furthermore, he has created a perfect balance between business and family. Rodriguez decided to invest his money wisely as he didn’t want to lose it, as some of athletes do.

After retiring from baseball, Alex Rodriguez ventured into the world of business. He wanted to build a diverse set of investments and utilize his wealth well, rather than waste it. Rodriguez started out with real estate and owns thousands of properties today. He is also invested in a large variety of other ventures.
