Being the child of a legendary athlete or celebrity is a tough challenge, with many expecting great things from them. Derek Jeter is a baseball icon who has three daughters and many expect them to excel at whatever they do. But during her first pregnancy, Hannah Jeter expressed her hopes for her children with the New York Yankees legend. 

Both Derek and Hannah wanted to raise their children, similar to how they had grown up. The Yankees legend even said that he would pass on his father’s lessons to his children. But it was Hannah who first expressed what she wanted from her children. 

Hannah Jeter wanted her children with Derek Jeter to inherit certain traits from them

In an article that she wrote for the Players’ Tribune in February 2017, Hannah Jeter announced that she was pregnant. She and Derek Jeter were having their first child together, and she announced it to the world in a sweet way. In that article, she also said that she wanted her children to be like her and Derek. She wanted them to inherit his honesty and her stubbornness, and that they won’t settle for less than they want. Hannah also added a little note about if they want to play baseball. 

In the Players’ Tribune, Hannah said, “I hope they’ll be honest like their father. I hope they’ll be stubborn like me. I hope that they know what they want and won’t settle for less. She further said, “And if they want to play baseball, well, we’re gonna have a little talk first.”

These were Hannah’s honest thoughts during her first pregnancy in 2017. Since then, they have safely had three children in total, all daughters. But they are both enjoying being parents thoroughly. In fact, it is one of the reasons that Derek will not take on another MLB role.

The Yankees’ legendary shortstop will not return to a regular MLB role

During a recent interview, Derek Jeter shut down any thoughts of coming back to baseball in a Management role. He said that it is because of the MLB’s brutal schedule and his desire to be there for his daughters. His parents were there for him and he wanted to replicate that by being present for as much as possible.
