After spending 20 years with the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter redefined the idea of loyalty, competitiveness, and a spirited attitude. Following his retirement in 2014, Jeter made it to the Pinstripes Monument Park with a record-breaking Hall of Fame entry with a 99.75% majority.

After his retirement, the Yankee shortstop took a hiatus from baseball. Three years down the line, in 2017, Jeter announced his return to baseball and his desire to take up a managerial role. Consequently, in September 2017, Jeter struck a bargain with Bruce Sherman’s Private Capital Management and bid for a minimum stake in the National League’s Miami Marlins.

The deal was successful, and Jeter acquired a 4% stake in the Marlins for $1.2billion. Eventually, the ownership handed Jeter the seat of the franchise’s CEO.
