Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez may have made a name for himself in the Bronx, but his heart remains in Miami. Although born in the Dominican Republic, Rodriguez did most of his growing up in the hot humidity of Miami. And while the coastal town is usually a warm place to be, A-Rod had a rude awakening only when he took a trip to another place that left him wanting. In a recent video covering A-Rod’s traveling essentials he includes a chapstick, and he has good reason to do just that.

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez speaks about how it went wrong

Speaking about the ten essentials he always needs, A-Rod lists a chapstick as one of his must-haves. And the reason he came to that revelation is all too clear. Narrating a story from when he was younger, A-Rod talks about how it went horribly wrong for him when he was there. He starts with a story of the time when he traveled to San Francisco from his hometown of Miami in the summer.

Said Rodriguez, “Not knowing any better, it was the middle of summer so I packed a bunch of shorts, t-shirts, I thought it was gonna be really hot.”

That was, of course, only temporary. Rodriguez quickly found out that his preparation was not going to be sufficient. “Then I found out the famous saying that ‘the coldest winter[in Miami] was my summer in San Francisco’,” he added, “I was freezing.”

Rodriguez quickly paid the price for his lack of preparation. Said Rodriguez, “My lips, I looked like the Joker, I had dry lips, I didn’t know what was going on.”

His problem had an easy enough fix, though. And Rodriguez took it. “I needed to get back to Miami, to the warmth, to the humidity,” he said, “Miami is home. 3-0-5 baby!”
