Cynthia Scurtis (former Rodriguez) once spoke about the reason why her relationship changed with the baseball icon Alex Rodriguez. The couple broke up after six years of marriage because of the athlete’s infidelity.

Cynthia spoke out for the first time about her separation from A-Rod in July 2008. Apparently, Alex had an alleged affair with the music icon Madonna, which Madonna denied. This alleged affair was denied by the ‘Queen of Pop,’ and became the reason for the separation of Alex and Cynthia.

The couple first met at a Miami gym in 1996 and started dating soon after. Eventually, they got married in 2002.

What did Cynthia say after she filed for divorce from Alex Rodriguez?

The time when the news about the athlete’s infidelity came out, Cynthia said that she still loved her husband but refused to go that road again after getting hurt. 

“I needed to get away. With clear-headed friends. To breathe. To think how I’m going to handle my kids. I just needed a little time,” she said.

She also revealed when she wanted to leave her husband, Alex supported and even encouraged her to do so. So, she left and was staying in Miami with their daughters while A-Rod stayed in New York.

For the divorce, the couple did the negotiations in private, keeping their daughters’ interests in mind. As much as possible, they tried to keep things confidential, including the details of their marriage and the negotiations that took place during their separation. 

Alex’s daughter Natasha missed her father

The separation also affected the former couple’s elder daughter Natasha, who was three years old at the time. 

Wanting a father around is every kid’s wish, and when Natasha did not get to see her father or live with him, she started to miss him. Cynthia said that her daughter was saying at the time, “I miss my daddy,” and was constantly asking for her father.

Ella was too young to even remember at the time to understand what was happening, but Natasha did not like not being able to see her father every day.
