The steroid era in Major League Baseball has affected many players, especially those who did not take steroids and got left out of winning the awards. One of those players is Jorge Posada.

How did Alex Rodriguez cause Jorge to miss out?

Many big names came out during the MLB’s steroid era and put a strain on their names forever. Names who have shattered multiple records were also on that list, including Alex Rodriguez and Roger Clemens.

Alex tested positive for taking performance-enhancing drugs in 2003. Also, he was later suspended from the 2014 season of MLB for taking steroids and lying about it. His taking PEDs in 2003 might have given him the boost he required to become the MVP of the season. But, the honor could have been someone else’s if it wasn’t for the PEDs.

Jorge in an interview about his book, ‘The Journey Home’ was asked, “Do you resent the players who didn’t play clean, who got records that you didn’t get?” He replied“Yeah, you know the only thing I can think is 2003. I was close to the MVP, didn’t happen, Alex won the MVP.”

In addition to this, he said, “I was almost there, what could have happened if, you know, it’s tough, it’s really tough.”

To know what would have happened if A-Rod haven’t taken the PEDs is not possible now. Maybe he still had won the MVP, maybe he hadn’t.

In the same interview, he also said that he thinks that the players with no controversy should only get inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Did Jorge also want to take steroids?

In his 17 seasons with the New York Yankees, Jorge has never taken any kind of performance-enhancing drugs. And he was never influenced to take them either.

He had thought about taking them, but there were more reasons for him to stay away from them.
