Singer Mariah Carey recalled in one of her interviews that baseball legend Derek Jeter had plans to marry her. The two had an extramarital affair while Carey was still unhappily married. Carey was the dream lady for Jeter. While Jeter was Carey’s, ‘Prince Charming’. 

Mariah Carey is a singer with worldwide fame. Whereas Derek Jeter is an immortal baseball legend whose achievements will keep him eternally alive. Had they both married, they would have been a highly celebrated American couple. 

Jeter fell in love with Carey since he discovered her music. He had posters of her hanging on his wall. His plan was to become a New York Yankees player and steal her away from her husband.

Baseball legend, Derek Jeter, had a longtime crush on singer Mariah Carey. They both met each other in the year 1997, at a party. That was the beginning of their romance. But Carey was already married to a music executive, Tommy Mottola, at that point in time.

While promoting her memoir, ‘The Meaning Of Mariah Carey’, she described her marriage to Mottola as abusive. Carey drew a comparison of her marriage to that of a life in prison. So she saw Jeter as a savior. 

Carey later spoke of Jeter having once told her, “‘I had this plan. I was going to come to New York. I was going to get on the Yankees. I was going to meet you, and I was going to steal you away from Tony Sony’ (his name for Tommy Mottola, Carey’s first husband) and then we were going to get married.’”
