It’s been almost a full month since Jazz Chisholm Jr. was sidelined with a painful oblique injury. The New York Yankee star suffered three tears during the game with the Baltimore Orioles on April 29 and landed on the injured list the very next day. Now, obliques are tricky and can be unpredictable and slow to heal, and the Yankees knew it would be a 4- to 6-week stint.

Now, as May rolls down, it looks like the journey might be nearing the end. At least Boone dropped some massive hints. He shared that Chisholm is making stellar visible progress. In fact, Chisholm Jr. seems to be set for a full-fledged workout on Tuesday to see how his body responds under more demanding conditions.

It will be the biggest test yet for his recovery journey and will determine whether he will be joining the lineup anytime soon. For a team that’s looking not just to be October-ready but those World Series rings, this could be a major lift. But Boone is not the only one dropping the signs and signals.

Just recently, Chisholm Jr. took to Instagram with a short but powerful message for his agent, Mike Rodriguez. “Happy birthday to the GOAT,” he wrote on his Instagram story. That might simply sound like a birthday shout-out on the surface. But coming from Jazz and given the timing, fans might see it as more than a simple post. It reads like a pulse check—something like saying, “I am here, still locked in and almost back.”

Jazz, however, is also eager to skip the rehab assignment altogether. His stint with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in 2023 has apparently left a bitter taste in his mouth. “I don’t like to do rehab assignments. I’ve never really been a fan of it,” said Chisholm.

So while the Yankees are understandably cautious, Jazz might be pushing for urgency. His numbers before the injury were .181 average with 7 homers in 105 at-bats. This stat does not scream red-hot, but there is no doubt that he has a spark in the lineup. Now it’s not a matter of if he will return—it’s when exactly.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s return ignite the Yankees' lineup, or is it too little, too late?

And there’s another good news making the rounds, too…

Another New York Yankee star making a comeback soon?

The New York Yankees are not just looking at a potential Chisholm Jr. return. They have been waiting on Giancarlo Stanton’s return all season, and that moment might be just around the corner. The 35-year-old was sidelined by tendinitis in both elbows and missed the start of the year. He has been doing everything to get back, and it looks like he has made some real progress.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman gave an extremely encouraging update on MLB Network Radio. Stanton has been doing everything. He’s kind of completed his base running now. He’s been hitting for a long time with that tremendous BP machine we have, so he’s been getting live at-bats.”

And Cashman now expects Stanton to be scheduled for live batting practice for the next two weeks. This means that the rehab assignment is not far off now. And this is great news for the Yankees—having not one but two star players come back is huge.

Stanton last season put up .233/.298/.475 with 27 home runs and 72 RBIs. Not too great, but not bad either. Well, there have been some rumors about him being traded once he is healthy. But for now, it seems like the Yankees are more intent on using him to build the offense before exploring that move. More so because he is in his 11th year of the massive 13-year, $325 million contract.
