“The basic rhythm of life hasn’t changed, but a lot has happened in the past few weeks, so it makes quite a difference having someone by your side,” Ohtani said. “There have been times I was really glad to have her (Mamiko Tanaka) there.” However, Ohtani also revealed how he dealt with the situation. The fact that his on-field form hasn’t dipped despite going through such turmoil is surprising. But the 2x MVP expressed that it’s quite normal for him.

How Shohei Ohtani maintained his focus on baseball amidst controversies

“When I play baseball, I don’t really think about it (controversies),” Ohtani said. “I think basically the skills I’ve acquired playing baseball don’t change, so I trust that first and foremost.” Later Ohtani shared that his job is to give his full on the field and that doesn’t change due to his personal life situations. In a way, Ohtani’s professionalism prevented him from taking his toes off the accelerator on the field.

The two-way phenom also talked about his Dodgers teammates and how their support has made things easier for him. “I’ve definitely had great support from the team, the coaches, and the front office. I’m really grateful,” the superstar said. So it seems the great support system that Ohtani has created is proving to be fruitful for him just when he needed them the most.

What makes this sweeter is that the superstar hit his 3rd homer yesterday against the Twins. That has again confirmed that slow-start is now in the rear-view mirror. Ohtani’s good form is here to stay.
