Patty and Wayne Judge, who worked as teachers in Linden, California, adopted a two days old Aaron Judge, born in Sacramento. The couple first met at Fresno State University, just like Aaron and Samantha, and married in 1975. In 1985, Patty and Wayne adopted their first son, John Jacob. And seven years down the line, in 1992, Patty and Wayne made the decision to adopt Aaron, “who was a pretty big baby.”

Judge found out he was adopted when he was 10

By the time Aaron turned ten, he realized that he looked nothing like his two parents. In a little while, young but tall, Aaron started asking questions, and his parents chose to take the transparent route and were honest to the future New York Yankees captain that he was adopted.

In 2015, he spoke to the New York Post about how he felt when he first found out about his adoption. However, he was more than okay with learning that, and Judge said, “I was fine with it. It really didn’t bother me because that’s the only parents I’ve known.”

Inside Aaron Judge’s complicated childhood

Be it basketball, football, or baseball, Judge was an all-round star. In Linden High School, he played as a wide receiver, a first baseman, and even as a center on the basketball team. After graduation, Judge also got picked by the Oakland Athletics in the 2010 MLB draft. However, he opted out and moved to study at Fresno State University.

Aaron Judge’s upbringing was centered around the values of kindness, hard work, and education instilled by his parents, Wayne and Patty. They believed that being a good person was more important than any athletic ability. Although Aaron showed early promise as an athlete, his parents encouraged him to prioritize his education and make sure he didn’t miss anything.

This focus on being well-rounded is evident in Aaron’s dedication to volunteering in his community during his teenage years, where he and his basketball team spent weekends picking up trash.

How is Aaron Judge’s relationship with his parents, Patty Judge and Wayne Judge?

Aaron Judge’s close relationship with his parents has been a constant source of inspiration for the New York Yankees’ outfielder. He has always held his mother Patty in high regard, citing her as the reason he eventually became a Yankee.

In a 2017 interview, the 2022 AL MVP spoke fondly of his childhood memories with his dad, playing catch outside, even though he could tell his father was tired from a long day of work. Judge’s parents’ unwavering support and dedication to their son have undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping the person and player he is today.

Patty Judge is the reason Aaron Judge is a Yankee?

Aaron Judge signed with the New York Yankees in the 2013 Minor League Draft, before he finally made his big league debut in 2016. However, despite growing up in the Bay Area, why did Judge love the Yankees so much? It was solely because of his mother, who grew up as a die-hard Yankees fan.

In a 2017 interview, when Judge smashed 52 homers, he credited Patty Judge behind him donning the Pinstripes. He said, “I know I wouldn’t be a New York Yankee if it wasn’t for my mom… She’s molded me into the person that I am today.”

What do we know about Aaron Judge’s biological parents?

Judge’s adoption was called a closed adoption. He never had any contact with his biological parents, and when asked about it, he stated that he never planned on getting in touch with them either. Judge, in an interview with Newsday back in the day, said, “I have one set of parents, the ones that raised me. That’s how it is. Some kids grow in their mom’s stomach; I grew in my mom‘s heart.”
