Corbin Carroll is known for his superhuman speed on the bases, motoring around the diamond to earn runs. In 2023, only a few MLB players have delivered killer speeds, and the Arizona Diamondbacks slugger is one of them.

With his MLB debut in 2022, the 23-year-old All-Star player can rocket around the basepaths. Fans know him as a speed threat against competing teams and his stolen base total in 2023 proves his extraordinary ability makes him a rookie sensation. But is there another, better runner?

The soft-spoken speedster of Arizona Diamondbacks, Corbin Carroll emerged as the fifth-fastest baseball player in the 2023 regular season. His sprint speed per second is officially at 30.1, easily surpassing the 30.7 ft/sec average sprint speed in 2022. Mindblowingly, Carroll is the second-fastest home-to-first time. With 129 bolts, he was also second in the majors.

Such phenomenal stats indicate that not only does Carroll have high speed, but he also knows how to strategically use it. The slugger has etched his name in franchise history to become the first rookie with 50 stolen bases and 25 home runs in a single season. Carroll definitely has a solid understanding of when he should strike a base.

Elly de la Cruz shoots himself with blazing-fast speed across the bases. Post a game, he labeled himself as “the fastest man in the world” and with good reason. He is right at the top of the leaderboard with a 30.5 sprint speed (feet per second). Corbin Carroll ranks in the fifth position with a 30.2 sprint speed.

So while Carroll is not the speediest, he definitely is one of the strongest contenders with the potential to lead the scoreboard. The D-Backs player had the highest number of triples in the NL in 2023. His record of stolen bases was second only to Ronald Acuna Jr.
