Competitive, fearless, and fierce were a few terms to describe Derek Jeter in the ballparks. But Captain Clutch made sure to separate his professional life from his private life very well. As a result, not many people knew much about Jeter outside the ballpark. And the 14-time MLB All-Star made sure to keep up with the mystery.

Even after leaving the ballpark, Derek Jeter continued to maintain the mystery. Consequently, his girlfriend since 2012, Hannah Davis (now wife), had absolutely no idea when the future Hall of Famer would propose. Naturally, that frustrated Hannah and left her bitter. But the charismatic captain made up for that, with a well-timed and perfect proposal for supermodel Hannah Davis.

Derek Jeter picked the right time and spot before finally going down on one knee

In episode seven of Jeter’s documentary called ‘The Captain’ which was released in 2022, Hannah Davis spoke about the time the couple was vacationing in Italy, and she was expecting a proposal. But Derek didn’t oblige. She said, “I thought I was being proposed to about three times before it actually happened. One of the times, we were in Capri, Italy. And every day I wore a white dress like I thought it was happening. And, no. It was like a lovely trip, but I was clearly very angry in the end because it was a little bitter.”

Derek, however, defended himself and claimed that he wasn’t ready to propose then. But eventually went down on one knee when the couple was in Napa Valley, on the balcony of their room. He narrated, “I wasn’t ready. We were in Napa Valley, and I knew I wanted to do it. We were on the balcony of our room.”

Finally, the Yankees legend went down on one knee and left Hannah awestruck. “We had been out there talking all night, drinking wine, and then he, you know, got down on one knee. And I was like, ‘what!!!!.’ He did it in such an intimate way where it was just him and I, there was no photographer, and there was no one watching us. It was just us,” narrated Hannah while speaking about how perfect the proposal was.
