Kansas City Royals might not be having their best of the season right now. But in the name of Bobby Witt Jr., the Royals have definitely got something to cheer on. The Royals’ wunderkind smashed his first career home run in the big league while playing against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Notably, Witt Jr. made his MLB debut this season. Being the second top prospect in baseball, Bobby Witt Jr. had immense pressure on him to deliver for his team. After having an impressive debut game on the opening day of the 2022 regular season, Bobby went quiet for a few games. But in his recent outing against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Royals star proved he is here to stay in the league.

Earlier in the 2019 off-season, the Kansas City Royals picked him as the second draft pick. And since then, he has been part of the Royals. If things go his way, then in the coming times, the 21-year-old will be one of the best shortstops in the league.

With Bobby’s stunning display from the plate, the Royals also broke their four-game losing streak. When he hit his home run, the ball bounced back onto the field, but the Cardinals center fielder chucked it back to the stands. The ball got lost in the fountains at the Kauffman Stadium, but the Royals found the historic ball back, and they might have given it back to Bobby.

Talking about his game, Bobby said that it felt good to beat the Cardinals in front of their fans. He also praised MJ Melendez, who made his big league debut in the same game. Bobby mentioned that he had a blast in the game.
“That’s cool. I can say it went in the fountains. It was awesome…,” said Bobby Witt Jr. “With MJ being here, being back at home, and wearing the new uniforms, it was just a blast. Lot of energy out there. And a lot of Cardinals fans, so it was good to beat them with a lot of fans here.”

Notably, Melendez – a catcher – also contributed to the Royals’ win by smashing his first career hit in MLB. MJ knocked his first hit towards the opposite field in the sixth inning of the game. With an all-around display in the ballpark, the Kansas City Royals defeated the Cardinals 7-1 in the second game of the three-game series.
