The San Francisco Giants came so close to recording their first win over their biggest rivals this season. However, despite their best efforts, they couldn’t overcome the Los Angeles Dodgers juggernaut. From Mookie Betts’ home run to the end of the innings domination by the batters, the Giants couldn’t give a strong reply against the Blue Crews’ relentless attacks. But one can’t deny, this was a disappointing loss.

The two rivals are so far away from each other, it’s tough to even call it a contest. The Dodgers currently sit atop the NL West with 28 wins while the Giants are 9 wins behind them (19 wins).

However, whenever the two teams step on the field, it’s hard to imagine there being such a gap between the two. The sheer intensity equalizes every difference and that leads to memorable games like today. However, there’s still a lot of mutual respect present here, as evidenced by the comments of the Bay Bombers’ skipper Bob Melvin.

Melvin couldn’t help but credit the Dodgers’ players for creating a huge comeback. “It was their big boys at the end there,” Melvin said during his postgame conference. “It’s tough to navigate around, you got some lefties, you got Smith sitting in the middle of it. He’s the guy that got the big hit off our lefty so you do the best you can to manage it.”

The Giants were ahead for 6 innings until the Dodgers tied the game in 7th. For the Bay Bombers that was a massive shock as at one point they were leading the game 3-1. However, due to great performances by Gavin Lux, Mookie Betts, and Kike Hernandez, the Dodgers not only climbed back to the game but ended up winning it 6-4.

With that, the Blue Crew has continued its march towards the playoffs. This kind of domination is rarely seen in baseball. It makes one wonder – is there a stop to this seemingly unstoppable train?

Los Angeles Dodgers rise despite initial hiccups

The games between the San Francisco Giants and the Dodgers have always been highly competitive. Dave Roberts noted in his postgame conference (per Los Angeles Times). “I think there’s something to the rivalry. Regardless of records, it seems like we always have tight ballgames.” For the Dodgers this win was highly important – they were coming off an uncharacteristically losing series against the San Diego Padres

Kike Hernandez hoped that this win would lead the team to “get rolling again.” But aren’t they rolling already? The Los Angeles Dodgers are 16-4 in the last 20 games. If this isn’t rolling, one shudders to think what is. The Men in Blue are marching on without any competition. Ad with no end in sight – perhaps it’s time to enjoy the ride.
