New York Yankees suffered their first defeat in the ongoing series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Albeit, even after this loss, the Yankees have something to cheer for. The form of their star pitcher, Gerrit Cole! Yes! Despite a loss, Cole displayed a wonderful performance from the mound.

Gerrit Cole is notably the most experienced and expansive pitcher in the Yankees squad. Ever since the 2022 regular season started, his form was the biggest concern for the Pinstripes. But now it seems like Cole is back to his beast mode from the mound.

On his day, Cole is a monster from the mound. He will rarely get a hit by any hitters, such a similar game he had against the Rays. However, he could not help the Yankees win the game. Given the Yankees are the top contender for the World Series, the Aaron Boone team will be more than happy with this performance.

Gerrit Cole shines in the Yankees’ defeat

Seems like things are working for the New York Yankees at the right time. Notably, the Pinstripes are suffering from injuries to several players including, Giancarlo Stanton and Aroldis Chapman. And amidst all these injuries, Cole’s form will be nothing less than a blessing for the Yankees.

Talking about his wonderful outing, Cole said they tried to win and even threw some good pitches, but they could not avoid the defeat. He also reflected on how he succeeded in his plan against the Rays hitter, Randy Arozarena.

“It’s kind of a bummer, whatever,” Gerrit Cole said. “I was actually aware of the fact that Arozarena could be sniffing that slider a little bit, so I went to the cutter there, trying to give him a different look. It was a great pitch. A little bit of tough luck there. We just did the best we could there and made a lot of good pitches.”

Cole pitched through six innings and allowed just two hits. He also struck out ten batters in the Tropicana Field. Despite all his efforts, the Yankees lost the game 3-1 to the Rays. However, they still have a chance to win the series, as the two teams will clash in the fourth game on Sunday.
