New York Yankees are inarguably the most successful franchise in the history of MLB. Though they have not been at their best in the past few years, no team is close to their legacy. There is a certain reason why they are so successful. From Babe Ruth, Derek Jeter, and Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez, the Yankees always have been a favorite destination for top-level players.

After a massive dip in the last season, the Yankees have been doing wonders this season. Under the leadership of Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge, the Yankees are on a nine-game winning streak this season.

While playing for the Yankees, A-Rod established himself as the legend of the game. He also won his only World Series title while playing for the Yankees.

Recently, while talking with Shams Charania and Marc Lore, A-Rod revealed why the Yankees won the World Series in the 2009 season. He claimed the Yankees won the championship in 2009 because of discipline, while he also heaped some high praise on the former Yankees’ owner, the late George Steinbrenner.

“I had a great opportunity to learn from George Steinbrenner for a long time…,” A-Rod said. “One of the greatest owners of all time, I know. God bless him! I love him dearly… I know when I won the World Championship, it was because we were very talented. But it’s not just about baseball or basketball. It’s really who is the most disciplined team.”

However, after that championship win in 2009, the Yankees have failed to win the World Series since then.
