Derek Jeter is someone who stays out of controversy and avoids drama. He did this throughout his playing career to avoid causing distractions for himself or his teammates. But no matter how hard he tried, Jeter could not keep his dating life out of the media. His relationships would be heavily covered by the press for all kinds of reasons.

Notably, the Yankees legend had an on-and-off relationship with Minka Kelly that led to a number of incidents occurring. One such notable incident was when Kelly rejected the advances of an $80 million worth Hollywood superstar in favor of getting back together with Jeter.

During the time that they were together, Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly had an on-and-off relationship. In 2011 Fall, the two broke up for a very short period. It was during that window when renowned Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal tried asking Kelly out. But the actress rejected Gyllenhaal in favor of getting back together with Jeter.

According to Page Six, a source said that “Gyllenhaal had shown interest in the gorgeous brunette but that she had “declined” his invitation to go out. The source further said that “she “was trying to patch things up” with ex Derek Jeter.”

Jeter and Kelly reportedly got back together later in the year and were spotted together in Paris. But it didn’t last long as they broke up for good a few months later in 2012. The couple spent more than 3 years together, but it was not meant to be for the two of them. Some have said that Jeter broke up with Kelly because she got too famous.

Minka Kelly has dated multiple men after splitting up with Jeter. She is reportedly dating Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds at the moment. Derek Jeter, on the other hand, met his soulmate Hannah Davis in 2012 shortly after breaking up with Kelly. He and Davis dated for three years before getting engaged in 2015.

In 2016, the couple got married and now have three daughters together. Although the relationship between Jeter and Kelly didn’t work out, they have both moved on to better things.
