The Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts turned heads with his performance against the Chiefs in the 2025 Super Bowl. But it seems like he is not done yet. He is rather targeting the next Super Bowl already. Well, it’s easier said than done. But Hurts is drawing inspiration from two of the greatest American sportsmen of all time.  Enter Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan – the two legends of the MLB and the NBA.

For starters, Hurts is now only the seventh quarterback ever to appear in multiple Super Bowls and win a championship within his first five seasons in the league. The other names include Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.

While he shattered Mahomes’ dream of completing a three-peat this year, Hurts is yet to enter an exclusive club of Brady and Mahomes. So, what’s that?

Well, the record of QBs winning consecutive Super Bowls was last achieved by Mahomes (2023, 2024), after Tom Brady (2004, 2005). Now, after winning the 2025 Super Bowl, Hurts is targeting to win the next one as well and break into that exclusive club. And for that, he is seeking help from Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan.

Needless to say Jeter and Jordan have done it all in their respective sports. While the Yankees won three consecutive World Series (1998-2000) with Jeter, Jordan also won three consecutive championships with Chicago Bulls (1996-1998).

But how will they help Hurts? Are we expecting Jordan and Jeter to call plays or throw touchdown passes? No. But they can share with Hurts their mindset and approach, which can be a game-changer for the QB as he chases back-to-back Super Bowls.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Jalen Hurts channel his inner Jordan and Jeter to achieve back-to-back Super Bowl wins?

Have an interesting take?

And Hurts is not the only NFL QB who rates Derek Jeter highly. Even the Giants QB Russell Wilson had once expressed his admiration for Jeter. The Yankees icon has inspired players across sports.

As far as Hurts is concerned, he is already the 2025 Super Bowl champion and if Jeter’s mentorship helps him add another one to his tally, he will be in the same league as Mahomes and Brady.

Derek Jeter has a long and decorated mentorship history

We know Derek Jeter for his clutch moments. He is more famous for his flip plays and the countless October heroics. But what often goes unnoticed is the quiet but powerful role he played as a mentor behind the scenes.

Jeter was always a steady influence in the Yankees clubhouse and the younger players followed in his footsteps everyday. While his mentorship might not have been flashy, it shaped careers that outlasted his playing days.

He won a championship here. A lot of guys in this room have not won a championship, and you can always pick up something from him,” Aaron Judge said about Jeter last year.

Judge has frequently mentioned Jeter as his role model. The duo had a good tuning during Judge’s early years. As part of the Yankees’ leadership legacy, Jeter’s quiet confidence and team-first mentality became a template Judge followed.

Even the former Yankees’ DH, Brett Gardner, has often spoken openly about how Jeter’s consistency and leadership helped shape his long tenure with the Bronx. While Gardner became a clubhouse leader himself, he cited Jeter’s professionalism and humility as his blueprint.

So, Jeter has got a history when it comes to mentoring. And if Hurts has turned to him for guidance, it’s likely to come to fruition.
