You can debate the Phillies’ on-field highs and lows all day, but there’s one place where they consistently hit it out of the park. Inside their broadcast booth. With former Phillies legend John Kruk behind the mic, the game isn’t just about balls and strikes. It’s a perfect dose of unexpected hilarity, tangents, and classic Kruk-isms. And here we are with another episode of the same!
During a recent broadcasting segment, Kruk delivered once again. This time, roping in none other than NFL veteran and Philly icon Jason Kelce. What followed was a perfect comeback from Kelce himself.
“You know, I was thinking about the swimming. I might have to reach out to my buddy Jason Kelce to see if I can borrow his American flag Speedo, because I didn’t bring any bathing suits here,” Kruk joked.

The comment was a nod to Kelce’s now-viral moment at the Eagles Autism Foundation fundraiser in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. In the event, he showed up in patriotic swim trunks and helped raise over $1 million for autism research. And earlier this summer, Kelce made headlines when he ripped off his shorts at the Ocean Drive bar, revealing the star-spangled Speedo underneath and moving through the crowd. That moment quickly blew up on social media.
But it took no time for Kelce to respond to Kruk. “Hahaha, I’ll let you borrow it anytime, Kruker!” Kelce shared in his Instagram story.

Well, while Kelce’s Speedo got immense attention in recent times owing to his stunts, the story behind it is heartwarming. And typical of the flamboyant personality of Kelce, he plays the off-field curveballs in the same spirit as he does on the field.
For the unversed, the Eagles Autism Foundation event has really become a big part of Kelce’s efforts off the field. His annual Team 62 fundraiser alone has pulled in over $2.4 million since 2021.
But while we are not sure if John Kruk will actually squeeze into Kelce’s famous star-spangled Speedo, fun moments like this keep the Phillies’ broadcasting scene close-knit and full of laughs.

Kelce’s good’ol relationship with the Phillies
Jason Kelce and the Phillies share a golden past. Their bond is built on shared passion, city pride, and a whole lot of personality. Being an icon of the Philadelphia Eagles, he had a common interest in representing the Philadelphia Phillies.
Kelce is a regular face at Citizens Bank Park, often spotted in the crowd cheering loudly with fans, or even taking part in the action himself. Last year, Kelce even threw the first ceremonial pitch for the Phillies on their 2024 Opening Day. And that proves that Kelce is more than just a sports celebrity decorating the stands for the Phillies.
Talk about the Phillies’ broadcasting booth, and there, as well, Kelce is a regular. Last month, he joined T-Mac, John Kruk, Ben Davis, and Ruben Amaro Jr. in the booth during the Phillies game against the Cubs. So, yeah, the recent jab between Kelce and Kruk is nothing new, but just an addition to the list of his Phillies antics!

Kelce is kinda living every pitch with the fans, from hyping the team on social media, showing up to big games, or belting out Dancing On My Own along with the crowd. This almost shows us the best of Philadelphia’s tight-knit sports community.
