During the Yankees’ first game against the Blue Jays in their ongoing series, Aaron Judge was accused of cheating. During one at-bat, he continuously looked at the dugout before hitting a home run. This made it seem like the Yankees captain was stealing signs. But in reality, he was supposedly looking at the dugout to see which of his teammates was arguing with the base umpire.

Even Bronx Bombers manager Aaron Boone apologized for the boring conclusion. But most recently, Jay Jackson, the pitcher during that game, admitted that he was tipping pitches. Jackson admitted the same during a telephonic interview with The Athletic.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Jackson said, “From what I was told, I was kind of tipping the pitch. It was (less) my grip when I was coming behind my ear. It was the time it was taking me from my set position, from my glove coming from my head to my hip. On fastballs, I was kind of doing it quicker than on sliders. They were kind of picking up on it.”

Furthermore, the tell was reportedly visible to Yankees’ first base coach Travis Chapman. This clears Judge of any wrongdoing. Receiving information about a tell via hand signals is legal under MLB rules. As the controversy draws to a close, Judge has led the Yankees to a dominating lead in this series.

The Yankees are building some serious momentum at the moment

The Yankees won their most recent game against the Blue Jays, taking a 2-0 lead in this away series. Furthermore, they have won 4 of their last 5 games and are creating positive momentum. It will be interesting to see how the team finishes this series as Aaron Judge leads them back to playoff contention. They were in dire straits a couple of weeks ago, but the situation is now looking much better.
