The star outfielder is natural as a captain and seems to understand his role perfectly. Most recently, he took the opportunity to troll a 21-year-old Yankee prospect who made the Opening Day roster. Judge did so with a well-timed joke. 

Aaron Judge jokingly asked Anthony Volpe if he’d packed his bags

The New York Yankees recently confirmed that top prospect Anthony Volpe has made the Opening Day roster. This is huge for the 21-year-old as he takes the next step in his young career. But in the positive news, Yankees captain Aaron Judge saw the opportunity to troll him. He asked Volpe if he had packed his bags for Scranton. This was a reference to the Yankees’ Triple-A team, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Talkin’ Yanks reported the interaction on Twitter.

In a Tweet, Talkin’ Yanks said, “Aaron Judge called Anthony Volpe after he found out he made the roster and asked him if he was packing his bags for Scranton(via @ChrisKirschner)”. This was a funny joke by Judge as he trolled his newest MLB teammate. Volpe must have been shocked by the call and wondering if he had really made the roster. The Yankees’ captain chose the perfect opportunity for a laugh.

But all jokes aside, the 21-year-old has been great during Spring Training, earning a lot of praise from experts. It will have meant a lot to him to receive a call from Judge, even if a prank was involved.
