Alex Rodriguez caused an uproar in 2006 when he decided to represent Team USA at the World Baseball Classic. Many wondered why he didn’t represent the Dominican Republic. But he joined fellow New York Yankees star Derek Jeter on the 2006 Team USA squad. Most recently, Johnny Damon, another Yankees star who made the team, shared a picture from the tournament standing alongside Rodriguez and Jeter.

In the Instagram post, Damon said, Nostalgia 🇺🇸⚾️#tbt #baseball #mlb #usa #wbc #yankees”. The picture is a great moment from the 2006 WBC. But 2006 was an extremely disappointing year for Team USA, Jeter, and Rodriguez. Although the legendary Yankees duo got some clutch hits, Team USA failed to make it past the second round. This was despite having legends such as A-Rod, Jeter, Ken Griffey Jr., and Roger Clemens on the roster, among others.
