The St. Louis Cardinals recently confirmed that their top prospect and MLB’s 4th-best prospect has made the Opening Day roster.

2022 was a big season for the Cardinals as they finished top of the NL Central division. And they are hoping to repeat that achievement this season, while also improving in the postseason. Furthermore, they will want their top prospect to have an impact this season.

St. Louis Cardinals’ top prospect Jordan Walker is on their Opening Day Roster

As of now, the St. Louis Cardinals look like the favorites to emerge from the NL Central division. Most recently, it was confirmed that the Cardinals’ top prospect Jordan Walker has made the Opening Day roster. This is a big move for the team as they bring in the 20-year-old to get Major League experience. Fox Sports shared the update on Twitter, confirming that Cardinals’ President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak announced the news.

In a Tweet, Fox Sports: MLB said, “Cardinals top prospect Jordan Walker has made the Opening Day roster, John Mozeliak announced. Walker is MLB’s No.4 overall prospect.” Walker will provide the Cardinals with added depth and options as he is a versatile fielder.

Reactions to the news have been largely positive.

Some fans have asked their teams to follow suit and use top prospects.

Cardinals fans have called Walker a Rookie of the Year candidate.

This is a big move for the Cardinals as they look to have a big season this year. Their star players are looking to be in good form, with Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado leading the way. Laars Nootbaar is also coming off a huge World Baseball Classic where he won the tournament while playing for Japan.

Experts have predicted that the 2023 St. Louis cardinals will have a similar season to 2022. They will win the NL Central but may fall short in the postseason. Big spenders such as the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers will be difficult obstacles for them to overcome.
