A month ago, Bronx boos shook Yankee Stadium. But on Friday night, Juan Soto changed the script at his new home, Citi Field. His two-run homer to left-center helped the Mets to a 6-5 win over the Yankees. That swing didn’t just change the score. It also put an end to concerns and brought back hope in Queens. And it got insiders talking.

He hit a single and scored a run later, coming close to the cycle with a 3-for-4 night. That included two RBI and two runs. Since June, he’s been on another level, hitting .337/.481/.721 with 12 home runs. This isn’t a hot streak; it’s a new beginning. And finally, the $765 million bat is showing its magic!

In the conversation at the New York Post Sports, the MLB insiders couldn’t hold themselves back from praising him. Anthony Rivera said, “So it’s very important for Juan Soto to continue the way he’s been playing through the month of June and carry that to July, coz he’s pretty much been the offense all of June. You know, when this team has not been playing well, he has been consistent, and I feel like the team is rallying around that.”  Tbh, looking at those numbers, he has been a consistent force in the lineup.

Not only this, Rivera also said, Now. He’s at home. His home in Citi Field in Queens. And I think things are going to be different moving forward.” It wasn’t just a nice thing to say. It was true. Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium in May was anything but sweet. He was booed loudly and went 1-for-10 with no extra-base hits. At that point, he seemed lost. But in Queens, he’s found his rhythm, and the boos have turned into cheers.

Soto got his 1,000th career hit on June 19. He knocked a single into right field against the Braves in the first inning. And his July performances?

He hit the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning against Milwaukee on July 3. It helped in breaking a 1-1 tie and starting the Mets’ 3-2 triumph that clinched. In the next game against the Yankees, Soto went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. He hit a two-run home run in the first inning and then tripled and scored again in the third inning of the exciting 6-5 Subway Series opener.

Not only insiders, but the skipper and Soto himself are happy with the performance.

Carlos Mendoza, the Mets’ manager, backed up Soto’s point of view as a member of the team. Every time he’s at the plate, you feel good about your chances,” he said. When we have guys on base and he’s going like that, it’s a pretty special feeling.” Mendoza also noted that Soto’s steady play set the tone for the game.
