Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez apologizes for hitting childhood neighbor’s houses

Julio Rodriguez is a certified slugger, having hit 28 home runs last year and 13 thus far in 2023. This year, he has even created an amazing opportunity for fans. But his powerful hitting once damaged his childhood neighbor’s houses. This happened when he was a young kid still honing his batting ability while practicing in his neighborhood field. The 22-year-old recounted this story while playing in the All-Star game. Rodriguez had to learn how to hit the other way to avoid hitting the houses. FOX Sports: MLB shared a video of the interview on Twitter.

In the interview, Rodriguez said, “Yeah, the, to be honest, I don’t like talking sounding like I’m bragging. But yeah, I had to stop hitting at the field out there ‘cause it was getting dangerous for the people.” The Mariners star then replied to this Tweet and apologized for the incident saying, “Yea my bad to the old neighbors”.

Rodriguez set the single-round record at the Derby

Although Julio Rodriguez did not win the Home Run Derby, he definitely left his mark. During the first round of the event, he set the record for single-round home runs with 41 big ones. He eventually lost in the Semifinal round to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who eventually won the whole Derby. An ironic fact is that Guerrero Jr. was the previous holder of the record that J-Rod broke. It was an interesting dynamic as the Mariners’ star enjoyed his time.
