Many relationships have formed between Major League Baseball players and people from the entertainment industry. One such famous relationship is of former baseball player Alex Rodriguez with megastar Jennifer Lopez. Another example is the shortstop Derek Jeter with Mariah Carey and others as well. But then, there is one involving Queen Riri, aka Rihanna. The singer dated the former baseball player, the outfielder Matt Kemp. The couple dated for a year more than a decade ago. 

The former couple had first sparked rumors when they got snapped together at a New Year’s Eve party in 2009. Then, on a trip to Mexico, they sparked the rumors of being in a relationship once again. Later in 2010, the Umbrella singer finally acknowledged the relationship. Being the people’s icon, Rihanna knew how to deal with the paparazzi. But for Matt, everything that was happening was completely unknown. 

What did dating Rihanna make Matt Kemp want?

Unknowingly, the pop icon Rihanna made the baseball player realize that he just wanted to be a normal man. Two years after breaking up with the singer, Kemp sat down for an interview with Graham Bensinger. There, he talked about how dating the iconic singer put him in the limelight he never wanted. 

“It’s pretty much overwhelming. It’s not something I’ve ever been used to. I’m not used to going to a grocery store to somewhere simple and people following you around,” the Hank Aaron award winner said.

Furthermore, Kemp added, “There’s so much attention for so many simple things that I mean, just want to be a regular man, I would live a regular life.”

According to the sources, the reason for their breakup is the singer’s busy schedule. But the real reason for the same is better known to them only. 

What is the former couple doing now?

The singer recently had a baby with the rapper ASAP Rocky. Whereas the former baseball player was seen earlier this year helping out the players of the Texas Rangers. The players turned to Kemp as the players’ association dealt with a problem with Major League Baseball.
