The Boston Red Sox have had one of their worst campaigns in this year’s MLB season. Suffering massive defeats and struggling with a poor win-loss record, they ended up last on the zonal rankings. Therefore, they are making some significant changes to their roster to take the field next season. But the fans have expressed disappointment over one of their latest recruits.

It’s the MLB offseason and franchises are thus engaged in acquiring players they feel would make an impact. The Red Sox have now recruited pitcher Kenley Jansen from the Atlanta Braves. Jansen is a relief pitcher who has spent his playing tenure in the National League until now.

When talking about Jansen, the reliever accolades include two National League Reliever of the Year Awards. He has also led the National League in the number of saves on two occasions, which includes the recently concluded season. Honorably, he is a member of the elite 300 Save Club. But the MLB fans are still unimpressed with Jansen’s contract with the Red Sox.

What did the fans have to say about the Boston Red Sox’s newest recruitment?

Kenley Jansen has thus signed a $32 million worth contract with the Red Sox for a two-year term. The Red Sox have made the move following Jansen’s imposing tally of 41 saves in 2022. His 391 saves are the all-time eighth-highest by an MLB relief pitcher. However, the fans still think differently about the Red Sox agreement.

Renowned MLB reporter Jeff Passan posted the news on his Twitter account, quoting, “Closer Kenley Jansen and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a two-year, $32 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.”
