‘Kind of Cruised There’- NY Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Is All Praise for Nestor Cortes Jr. for His Great Outing Against Tampa Bay Rays

Nestor Cortes Jr. deserves all the praise in this world. He has been a lone warrior for the New York Yankees from the mound. Game after game, Nestor is only improving his pitching skills. Whenever getting the chance, the Yankees pitcher has been phenomenal for the Pinstripes.

In an ongoing four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees’ starting pitcher had another epic game from the mound. When it comes to batting, the Yankees have many options, who can hit consistently from the plate, but, pitching-wise, the Pinstripes lack such consistency, except for Nestor.

Currently, the New York Yankees are struggling from injuries to their key players. But thanks to Nestor Cortes Jr., who played an instrumental role in the Yankees’ win over the Rays. Even the Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone could not resist and praised him for his wonderful outing.

Nestor Cortes Jr. led the Yankees to start the series with a win

Currently, Nestor Cortes Jr. is not only the best pitcher for the Yankees but also one of the best in MLB. Per ESPN, with a 1.70 ERA in nine starts, Nestor has the fourth-best ERA in the 2022 season. 

Talking about his phenomenal performance, Aaron Boone praised Nestor for his outstanding start from the mound.

“I just think how efficient he got,” Boone said to YES Network. “I had worked a little bit in that first inning, and then he just dialed in from a command standpoint and kind of cruised there. He was really sharp. I mean, obviously just another really great outing by him.”

Nestor was so great that he allowed only two runs in his eight innings. He also became only the 8th Yankees pitcher to do the same in 9-plus starts in a season. Taking to Twitter, MLB Network shared the same.

Making it to the World Series has never been a straightforward job for any MLB team. But it is also true that the Yankees have been the most to the World Series in MLB history. And given the kind of season, they are having, the Yankees are the top contender for the prestigious trophy this season.
