“Kind of Speechless” – Star Comedian Bill Burr Opens Up About Being the First Comedian to Perform at Fenway Park

For most sports fans, it is a dream to play with your heroes. But as time goes on, that dream seems farther and farther than usual. For some, however, there comes another chance to do what you wanted, but in a roundabout way. And when that opportunity came to Bill Burr, he couldn’t let it go. The Boston native comedian is all set to rock Fenway Park with his laughs with a stand-up show scheduled for August. Marking the first instance that a comedian is performing on the hallowed ground, Burr, needless to say, was excited.
Bill Burr is one of America’s most popular comedians. Although there is little doubt that Fenway Park will feature a sold-out attendance, the opportunity of performing where his heroes have achieved sporting glory will nonetheless be special to Burr. Having grown up in a neighborhood not too far and regularly excited for sporting events in the city, the comedian is a die-hard fan of the Red Sox and will cherish this opportunity.

Bill Burr is excited to perform at Fenway Park
The star comedian is undoubtedly excited to visit Fenway Park. This time as a performer in the ballpark. Speaking to Live Nation, Burr mentioned, “Never imagined it would lead to Fenway.”
Famous for his performance and not being afraid to call out any red flags that he may see, Burr will debut a new set for the Boston crowd gathering. And while a large part of his profession revolves around talking, he admitted that this time felt different. Said Burr, “Kind of speechless, which is rare for a big mouth like me.”

The comedian walked out onto the diamond to throw the ceremonial first pitch earlier this year. With the #22 and his name on the back, Burr walked out on April 19th to tee off a series between the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Actually, a bit nervous?
For a kid growing up in Canton, as Burr did, this is as close to a dream as you would get. Burr, understandably, could be stricken by the opportunity. He was candid about it too, as he spoke on the Jimmy Kimmel show as a matter of promotions for his show. “I’m trying to kind block that out, how insane it’s gonna be for me,” he said. “I’ll tell my jokes and hopefully it’ll be alright.”

The occasion also presents the star comedian with the opportunity to reconnect with some of his high school friends. “There’s actually a lot of people from my high school graduating class coming,” he added, “we’re all meeting up beforehand.”

As Burr prepares to set out on tour for his new special, “Bill Burr (Slight Return)”, the Fenway performance remains the only opportunity for a New England audience to see him live.
