The New York Mets still appear unable to move beyond the agony of their wildcard round defeat this year. So, they are constantly fishing for the biggest prize they can pull up on the boat. In a desperate attempt to bulk up their muscles for the next MLB season, the Mets are making heavy deals.

Therefore, the Steve Cohen-owned side recently signed up yet another high-profile player to leave baseball fans dumbstruck.

The Mets already lost a stellar magnitude of talent in Jacob deGrom this off-season. But they soon covered up with a like-for-like replacement by acquiring the legendary Justin Verlander. Moreover, the Mets have also re-signed the agile Brandon Nimmo. Now, amid a record spending spree, the Buck Showalter-led side has added another weapon to their arsenal by signing Kodai Senga. 

The Mets are making every move to reverse their failures of this season, next year. The wounds of their shocking exit still hurt them, considering their magnificence during the 2022 regular season. So the signing of Senga has come as another weapon added to their pitching arsenal. Whereas, the fans have simply gone berserk over the other teams, missing out on doing the same.

Kodai Senga has now reportedly signed a $75 million contract with the Mets. A pitcher by trade, Senga’s term is for a five-year period. The agreement also includes an opt-out after the third year and a no-trade clause. Thus, Senga will make his MLB debut next year.

The Fox Sports Network shared the news on their official Twitter account, quoting, “The New York Mets are signing Kodai Senga per Martin on NYC.”  And fans could not resist themselves from reacting to the same.

Senga made his NPB debut in 2012 for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. He is a three-time NPB All-Star player who pitched a no-hitter in 2019. Additionally, Senga is also a five-time Japan Series Champion.
