New York Yankees were almost unbeatable in the late 90s and early 2000s. With Derek Jeter leading from the front, in the name of Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, and Mariano Rivera, the Yankees had several winners by their side.

The Yankees were at their peak between the 1996 and 2000 MLB seasons. Recently, the former Yankees captain Derek Jeter shared an interesting story from the 2000 MLB season. Notably, the Yankees played the 2000 World Series against subway rival New York Mets. And given the rivalry, Jeter could not afford to lose against the Mets.

Derek Jeter would have moved out of the city had the Yankees lost the championship to the New York Mets
Recently, Derek Jeter turned up for the “Pardon My Take” podcast, where he discussed several things. In between the talks, the former Yankee also revealed that he could not have afforded to lose the 2000 World Series to the New York Mets. Considering the rivalry, not only Jeter, but no Yankee would want to lose to the Mets, especially in a World Series.

Not to forget the Pinstripes were playing their 3rd World Series in a row. Jeter confessed he would have moved out of the city had the Pinstripes lost the championship to the Mets.

The New York Yankees completed their hat-trick after defeating the Mets in the 2000 World Series
As earlier mentioned, the Yankees were almost unbeatable between 1996 and 2000. With Jeter and Joe Torre leading the team, the Pinstripes won four championships, including a hat-trick during these five years.
