Amazing sports personalities grace fields and stadiums all the time and fans love seeing it every time. But sometimes, what they enjoy watching more than anything is legacy unfold. One such famous duo in sports is Dale and Jake Murphy, though both played different sports. While the older Murphy is a baseball legend, Jake is a former NFL player. And now it seems like one Murphy from the younger generation is taking after his grandfather after sharing a sweet moment with an Atlanta Braves player.
Spencer Strider leaves Ledger Murphy in tears after a field encounter
Keep in mind that tears are not always shed on sad occasions. At a recent Braves game, the Murphys were in attendance to watch the team in action. Dale Murphy tweeted a clip of his grandson sharing a sweet fan moment with Strider.
Spencer Strider pretty much had my son in tears after throwing him this BP ball. He had me in tears after I saw how much better his mustache is than mine.
Yo, Spencer! Thank you! You made a young fan happy… my grandson, Ledger!!! @Braves
Ledger Murphy, wearing an Acuna Jr. jersey, can be seen poised at the edge of the stands. Strider comes closer to catch a ball and the youngest Murphy cheers his name. Just as the Braves pitcher catches the ball, he throws it up to the stands for Ledger to catch. As he turns around, his face radiates pure joy.
Dale’s tweet thanked Strider for his gesture and Jake Murphy also retweeted the post later. He captioned it, “Spencer Strider pretty much had my son in tears after throwing him this BP ball.” But in a funny moment, he also added, “He had me in tears after I saw how much better his mustache is than mine.”
Strider is famous for his pitching, but he’s equally known for that mustache. After all, it’s a rather defining feature on a 24-year-old’s face!
How did MLB Twitter react to this wholesome fan encounter?
One fan commented about how they remembered their own experiences with players on the field.
I love that video. What a memory. It reminds me of when I was 13 and my favorite Brave threw me a ball.
Most fans felt grateful for the interactions that baseball enables.
This is the wholesome content I came here for.
Some paid their respect to Dale Murphy too.
Strangely, no one had anything to say about the famous mustache!
