Game 2 of the NLCS on Tuesday night is shaping up to be a massive showdown. The Los Angeles Dodgers narrowly edged out the first game of the series and are now looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead. And the Milwaukee Brewers are ever so determined to tie the score.

They did come up short in Game 1 and fell 2-1 to the Dodgers. Blake Snell had tossed a brilliant masterpiece on Monday night, keeping LA quiet for nearly the entire game. But once he was out in the ninth inning, the Brewers managed to scratch across a run—a little too late, because it couldn’t have changed the outcome.
But this series is far from over, and the mashup between what others are calling “average joes” and baseball’s “evil empire” is turning crowds gaga. It is not just a series; it is, after all, a clash between beliefs of team makeup and what ideology is right—can spending the most get you championships, or can smart thinking and depth help you win rings? Game 2 will be one step closer to everyone knowing the answer.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yamamoto looking to outduel Peralta in Game 2
The Milwaukee Brewers are back on their home turf, and they’re hoping Freddy Peralta can save their season from slipping too far out of reach. After a razor-thin 2-1 loss in Game 1, they honestly will need more than just strong pitching. They would require their offense to be hitting, something that was completely silent on them on Monday night. Now, Peralta has been a workhorse for the team when he is locked in. When he is locked in, his stuff is what makes the best of the lineups look bleak. But here is the thing—the Los Angeles Dodgers are not just any other lineup.
They are loaded with superstars from top to bottom. They have the kind of bats that can punish if one makes even the slightest mistake. Freddie Freeman and Will Smith, meanwhile, have found their rhythm with two hits each in the opener, and that’s a danger sign for the Milwaukee Brewers. We can’t forget Freeman and how he is heating up in the offseason changes it all—remember the last World Series? He paid through physical adversaries and emotional ones, and still came out with personal highs and a ring!
Then there is Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He is a Japanese sensation and had one of his worst regular seasons against the Brewers. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning way back in July. But this feels like a perfect time for the redemption arc to play out. He has the control and the poise, and after watching Snell dominate game 1, he would want to match the energy pitch by pitch.
However, the deal is that Milwaukee’s offense looks flat. They had bases loaded in the ninth inning on Monday and still could not make anything of that golden opportunity. Brice Turang, who was supposed to be the hot spark, has gone ice-cold. And sure, many would want an underdog to take the big dogs, but right now, the Brewers look like they are in a puddle. Yamamoto’s command and the Dodgers’ star power will be too much. The only saving grace would be Ohtani not being hot, and that his two-way pitching and hitting are not letting him shine in one area. For now, even the Dodgers slugger is tense, but as long as the Los Angeles Dodgers superstars stay locked in, they will be another step away from getting to the back-to-back championship run. And who knows, maybe even win it!
