Baseball is a game that requires great skill and effort. Even the best players have stretches of poor form and inconsistent play. Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani recently suffered the same but was able to overcome it. Most recently, he shared the secret behind overcoming that bad batting form and getting back to his usual swing.

Before his most recent game, Ohtani had not recorded multiple hits in a game since May 18th. It was a long stretch of games without consistent batting form. But the two-way phenom seems to have made some adjustments and is back to his best.

There are few players as focused and thorough with their training as Shohei Ohtani. Although he was going through a batting slump lately, he recently overcame it. After his most recent game in which he hit 2 home runs, he revealed that there was an issue with his mechanics. He was not gripping the bat properly. Sam Blum of The Athletic shared this update via Twitter as Ohtani revealed his secret.

In a Tweet, Blum said, “Shohei Ohtani said after the game today that when he goes through slumps, he often notices various mechanical flaws causing the issues. His recent slump, he said, had to do with the height of where he was gripping the bat. Seems like he got that fixed.”

Ohtani fixing his batting issue is massive for the team as he is key to their success. His 2 home runs were a massive part of the Angels’ recent 12-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Furthermore, despite his slump, speculations surrounding his Angels future have continued to grab headlines.

Which team will Shohei Ohtani sign for?

Despite his recent batting slump, rumors surrounding Shohei Ohtani’s future team continue to dominate headlines. Most recently, he was linked to the Boston Red Sox, but other teams have better odds to get his signature. The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees are two of the favorites to sign him. But the New York Mets are also in the race. It will be interesting to see how the rest of his season goes and which team he signs for.
