Many teams have defied expectations for all the wrong reasons this year. But the Miami Marlins have done it correctly and are en route to making the postseason. Their recent significant form has centered around their $6 million star infielder Luis Arraez. In current events, the 26-year-old made history while facing accusations of slapping his coach.
Arraez has been one of the best contact hitters in the MLB over the last few years. He looks to continue that trend this season with a League-leading .400 batting average. Amidst the previous night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Miami Marlins’ star was captured on video appearing to slap his coach. The question remains: Was it intentional, or does it merely seem that way in the footage?

In his most recent game, Luis Arraez created history. He became the first player since Dave Winfield in 1984 to have 3 5-hit games in a month. This is amidst some excellent form that has seen him help the Marlins win games. However, in a recent incident, he faced accusations of slapping his first base coach while celebrating each of his hits.
MLB insider Jared Carrabis shared a Twitter video of Arraez recording his 5th hit in the Marlins’ game last night. Shortly after, Arraez brutally slapped his first base coach, Jon Jay, on the chest while celebrating.

Although it seems brutal, Jay does not flinch when the hit connects. But the pain might be building up. Considering Arraez’s form, the Marlins’ first base coach will have to endure a lot of chest slaps.
Arraez is a vital part of the Marlins’ current form
Luis Arraez has continued his epic batting, playing a vital role in Marlins’ current form. He and Jorge Soler, top-5 in the MLB in home runs this season, have sometimes helped carry the team. But a well-rounded batting lineup has been the big reason for their success. This is especially the case as their bullpen struggles to contain opposing teams. Furthermore, they also miss star player Jazz Chisholm Jr. due to injury.
