Out of all of his relationships, Jeter’s relationship with pop star Mariah Carey made lots of noise. And why not? Even though they dated only for a year, Jeter gave an experience of a lifetime to Mariah. She was so much into Derek Jeter that she wrote a couple of songs inspired by the time she spent with the Yankees star.

When Mariah Carey denied her song was not about Derek Jeter
Dating back to 1997, when Mariah Carey released her new album, “Butterfly,” she was the talk of the town. Notably, this album was a massive hit at that time. But while talking to VH1, she denied the fact that one of the songs from the album had nothing to do with her ex-boyfriend, Derek Jeter.

She did say that “The Roof” would be her favorite song but not because of Jeter. Instead, she credited her musician crew and her idea to create the song.

“I enjoyed being able to do a song that was not about belting all the through. It was not about like, vocally, showing off, or anything else. Not to say that in the past, it’s been about showing off. I mean, people have interpreted that and said that about me, whatever. But this particular song, it would not have been appropriate, and you know, so it’s my favorite.”
Mariah admits her song was about her relationship with Jeter
Now, fast forward to 25 years later, in 2020, Mariah confirmed that not only “the roof,” but her other song “My All” was also about her relationship with Derek Jeter. It took her 23 years to publicly admitted the fact that her two songs were about her ex-boyfriend, Jeter.
