When nothing else works, sometimes you reach for the most obvious fix—and pray the internet isn’t watching. Unfortunately for one Los Angeles Dodgers slugger, the cameras were rolling, the memes were loading, and baseball Twitter was already sharpening its knives. Max Muncy’s latest attempt to break out of a soul-sucking slump didn’t just flop—it earned him a front-row seat in the Hall of Trolled.

Muncy is having a very rough patch, and the reason might be more serious than imagined. But the fans don’t look at excuses; they only look at performances, and Max Muncy has been at the wrong end of the fans’ fury. While some people might feel sorry for him, others are not and especially after the change in appearance.

It was reported by the Dodgernation Instagram handle as to why Muncy might have a change in his look. They wrote a post saying, “Max Muncy has recently been diagnosed with astigmatism and is now wearing prescription glasses to help improve his vision at the plate. 👓 Interestingly, he visited the same eye doctor as teammate Kike Hernandez!”

Before the glasses debut, Muncy was batting .176 with zero home runs and an OPS well below league average. In his last three games, he managed only two hits, striking out multiple times. His batting did not improve, but it will take some time before he can get used to things with a new view. And if the reports are true that, it is the same doctor that treated Kike Hernandez, the fans might not have to be hating on his performances any longer.

After all, if Kike Hernandez went from whiffing to raking with the same prescription pad, there’s still hope for Muncy’s comeback tour. But until his bat catches up with his lenses, the only thing getting clearer is the ridicule. Baseball may be a game of adjustments, but for Max Muncy, the biggest challenge might be squinting past the sarcasm to find his swing.

MLB fans waste no time in making fun of Max Muncy and his fresh change

In a league where tradition dies hard and change is a sin, one brave soul from the Los Angeles Dodgers dared to tweak his look—and instantly became X’s favorite new target. Purists clutched their pearls, memes flew faster than a 98 mph fastball, and Max Muncy, unwittingly, walked straight into a spectacle no stat sheet could predict. Because nothing makes noise like a little upgrade in vision.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Max Muncy's new glasses be the game-changer he needs, or just another meme moment?

The one thing that MLB fans can’t resist is a change in the appearance of a player. Especially when that change might make no difference. After Max Muncy came to the plate with prescription glasses, one fan was quick to point out that it might make no difference. He said, “Maybe he needs a thicker pair… 0-2 with 2ks lol.” Not only this, Muncy has had only 2 hits in his last 3 games, and this might be a much-needed change. Just like Kike Hernandez, this might be a game changer for Muncy.

Even with the Glasses, Muncy’s performance has not changed. He went 0-3 in the game against the Braves, and the fans are asking for justice. Not for the performance, but from the doctor who prescribed the glasses to him. One fan wrote, “Brother needs a refund on those glasses already.”

If there was one person who could help Max Muncy with his eyesight, it was Kike Hernandez and as per reports that is exactly what has happened. One fan pointed out “LOL I called it knew he needed glasses I was like Kike PLS take him to your eye doctor haha.” After getting diagnosed with astigmatism, it looks like Kike Hernandez led the way for Max Muncy to get his eye checked and if things go right, he might just give the comeback that the fans have been waiting for.

Kike Hernandez is the one who led Max Muncy to the doctor because he had the same problems and fans were quick to point it out. One Dodger loyal pointed out “Reminder to everyone that same thing happened with Kike and after his diagnosis he got hot!” After the change, Hernandez’s average went from .191 to .278 and saw a significant reduction in strikeout percentage. If a glass can have a big impact on performance, then there is no harm in getting a pair.

Michael Conforto and Max Muncy have had one of the worst starts to a season. And according to this fan, they might be competing for who is the worst. The fan said, “Don’t think it’s helping. He and Conforto are battling it out for the worst ABs.” Conforto is batting with an average of .169, while Muncy is batting at .176. They also have a very low OBP and are having a very rough season. Maybe this is the change that might open the floodgates for Muncy to get going.

If rock bottom had a batting order, Muncy and Conforto would be hitting cleanup. But in a game where superstition and slump-busting go hand in hand, even a pair of lenses can become a beacon of hope.
