Injuries and missing games are going hand in hand in 2023. From Shohei Ohtani to Jasson Dominguez to Mike Trout, several other players suffered from this situation. Now, probably the Texas Rangers‘ further journey will be their star pitcher-less. That’s only a probability based on their current situation, though.

In major leagues, tables turn in a blink. That was the case with the Rangers. Though their beginning was not bad, within one month, things rapidly changed for them. Their dream season turned into almost a nightmare. Qualifying for the Postseason depends on the Wildcard. Even injured players can’t stay at ease as probably the team will require him to win.

The Texas Ranger’s star pitcher has a season-ending injury, still running for the team

The Ranger’s starting Pitcher, Max Scherzer, was declared to miss the remaining regular season. The 39-year-old pitcher has a muscle strain in his shoulder that shouldn’t be ignored at this high time. The GM of the team announced that the player has a low-grade muscle strain that doesn’t need any surgery, but he will be at rest for the remaining games.

After this announcement, a Twitter video revealed him running in the outfield with his shoulder injury. The post mentioned that the 8x All-Star is anxious about his team’s condition and keep practicing in case his team requires him for the Postseason. The pitcher mentioned, “In some ways I was almost relieved that it’s not worse. It’s not surgery. Talking with the doctors, I fully expect to make a full recovery.”

The Rangers are quite in a tricky position. They have to fight to stick to the playoffs both in the AL West and wild-card. Scherzer’s injury was a big blow to them at this point. They opened their current series with a big defeat against the Cleaveland Guardians- a 12-3 defeat. It at once broke their 6-game winning streak, but still, they have their wild card spot intact. However, there are competitors close by, so more defeats may take away their secured wild card spot. On the other hand, it was the first game in the last three months where the Guardians hit 12 runs.

The defeat was not expected. Fans were surprised. Even the injured pitcher can’t rest but run to get back in pace faster. The video even captioned that the previous day he was out for injury, and the next day he was running “just in case” his team required him to reach the Postseason.

How the Texas Rangers vs. Cleaveland Guardians game went?

Initially, this game was not a hyped one as the Rangers have their Postseason entry secured and a 6-six winning streak maintained. However, things changed within a few hours. The Guardians’  Lucas Giolito stole the spotlight with seven scoreless innings.

Two other players who highlighted their skills were Andrés Giménez and Josh Naylor. The first hit a two-run homer, while the latter has 4 hits, which is the highest in his baseball career. Sam Huff scored a home run in the ninth inning, and Austin Hedges pitched well in the eighth inning, contributing to the Rangers’ efforts. Their effort didn’t work, though. They lost the game.

Growing up in a family where sports was a topic of daily discussion, baseball drew my interest the most. I admired the post-retirement journey of Alex Rodriguez and the rise of Shohei Ohtani and Elly De La Cruz to stardom in the current baseball generation. Forever enamored by Bryce Harper and the way his career is progressing, I love covering most East Coast teams. When not writing, you can always find me at the library, buried between the pages of a book. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a favorite for me. When not surrounded by words, I’m usually in the battlefields of COD and Fortnite!
