Notably, New York City is hosting the first-ever Japan Parade in honor of Japan Day. The main motto of this parade is to build a bridge of cultural understanding between the people of Japan and the U.S. The year 2022 also marks the 150th anniversary of America’s introduction of baseball to Japan.

And to celebrate the occasion, the New York Mets hosted a Japanese Heritage Night on May 13. Before the game against the Seattle Mariners, the Japanese Ambassador to the U.S., Mikio Mori, was supposed to throw the first pitch at the Citi Field. But something happened in the ballpark, and Ambassador Mikio Mori could not do the honor.
